In this article we shall talk about the various things you can do here and the parks that you can visit here in the city of Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Without further ado, let us begin.

Crosby Farm Regional Park is named after Thomas Crosby, an English immigrant who staked out 160 acres in the valley southwest of the present-day junction of Shepard Road and Interstate 35E in 1858. Before Crosby’s death in 1886, the farm became one of the largest and longest running in the West End and Highland Park area. A succession of families farmed it between 1902 and 1962. The Saint Paul Port Authority purchased the land in the early 1960s and leased it to the City for park use. Today, Crosby Farm’s potential as a nature area accessible to the public may be realized.

Located along the northern edge of Dakota County from Eagan to Lilydale, the Big Rivers Regional Trail is a scenic 4 1/2-mile paved trail that overlooks the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers.

The trail also links to the 72-mile Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, hundreds of miles of trails throughout the greater Twin Cities area and historic landmarks including Fort Snelling, Pike Island and, one of Minnesota’s oldest settlements, the city of Mendota.

The Big Rivers Trailhead provides access to a nearly flat paved trail built on an abandoned railroad bed. Highway 55 in Mendota Heights, Interstate 494 in Eagan, and Interstate 35E in Mendota Heights are additional access points to the Big Rivers Regional Trail.

Rogers Lake is a lake in Dakota County, in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Rogers Lake was named for E. G. Rogers, a pioneer farmer who settled there.

Wagon Wheel Trail divides the two sections of the lake (the northern is sometimes referred to as “Mendakota Lake”) which are connected by a culvert (a popular fishing spot). The south shore is occupied by Saint Thomas Academy and the Patterson Companies headquarters. Interstate 35E is routed along the western shore. A paved trail runs between 35E and the lake, from Mendota Heights Road to Rogers Lake Parm. The park is located on the northwest corner of the lower lake, and is a popular area for fishing and skateboarding in the summer. Mendakota Country Club surrounds the northern section. The remainder of the shoreline is occupied by private homes and accompanying land.
