The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing was formed in 1971. The Minnesota Wing was the very first charter unit of the national headquarters wing of the Commemorative Air Force and operated as a maintenance support arm to help the CAF’s mission and its ever-growing fleet of rare aircraft.
The CAF was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans. Today, the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing is home to six aircraft, a large motor pool fleet, and a unique collection of World War II artifacts that are on display. The CAF MN Wing attends many airshows, parades, and other events throughout the year. They also host two hangar dances and several museum events at their facility.
Their museum is open to the public, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free of charge. Donations are always welcome and appreciated when visiting. Visitors will have the opportunity to get close to their rare collection of military aircraft, view the museum display cases, and see their motor pool vehicles. You may be able to witness aircraft fly depending on the day. Living History Flight Experiences can be purchased in the gift shop for a once in a lifetime opportunity to actually fly in one of their rare airplanes. Since their hangar and museum are located at an actual operating airport, something interesting is always happening just outside the hangar door.
North Valley Park is a beautifully wooded area in the heart of Inver Grove Heights located North Valley Park – Disc Golf Course at 2800 70th St. E. This large park includes 58 acres of land. Amenities include baseball/ softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts (non-lit), pickleball courts, picnic tables, a grill, and trails. North Valley is also home to the Inver Grove Heights Disc Golf Course.
South Valley is a great neighborhood park located at 2810 70th St. It is home to many great Parks & Recreation events, picnics, and the south valley-sledding hill. Come fly down this large hill during the snowy winter months! Summer brings good times at the playground or ball fields. As well as houses a portion of the Disc Golf Course!
This neighborhood park has a little bit of everything. Rent out the open air picnic shelter that has indoor restrooms and a grill. This park also has a playground, three baseball/softball fields, lighted tennis courts, and a skating and pleasure rink. People can take advantage of all this park has to offer year round.
