further subcategories. Now, the first category are those roads that are categorized as highways or freeways in the various highway systems within the United States, these include Interstate freeways, US Route Highways, and finally, the smallest of the bunch, although not in any way less important, State Route Highways. After we finish describing these roads to you, we shall move into the second category, which are roads that aren’t within any highway categorization system, these roads include your regular streets, boulevards, avenues, and drives. Now, without any more distractions, we shall now start with the first subcategory of the first category, which are Interstate freeways, and it appears that there are two within the area, Interstate 35W and Interstate 494.

Interstate 35W starts within the city of Richfield right after intersecting and forming a clover interchange with Interstate 494 in the southern side. Coming from Bloomington, the road intersects with various other roads, such as W 76th Street, W 66th Street, and exiting the city with an intersection with State Route 62 and 121. Then there’s Interstate 494, which goes through the southern side of the city of Richfield. The route has multiple connections with other roads, these include State Route 77, Portland Avenue, Nicollet Avenue, Lyndale Avenue, Interstate 35W, and Penn Avenue. This route has good accessibility to the nearby international airport, and thus is important even though it doesn’t even enter the city fully.

Unfortunately, there are no US Route highways within the city of Richfield, Minnesota, and thus, we shall skip over towards the State Route Highways within the city. And thus, we shall start off with State Route Highway 62, which is connected to the airport, and thus is quite important to the city. Coming from the east as Crosstown Highway, right before partially entering the city, it intersects and forms a clover interchange with another State Route Highway, which is State Route Highway 77. From there it moves in a constant westward direction, intersecting with Portland, Nicollet, and Lyndale Avenues, while undergoing a temporary concurrency with Interstate 35W, it also forms an intersection with State Route Highway 121 at the end of its concurrency with Interstate 35W. Before exiting the city, it intersects with Penn Avenue and Xerxes Avenue. It continues westward towards Edina. After that, there’s State Route Highway 77, which is also connected to the airport, in this case, its western side. After going past the Mississippi River from Eagan, then entering the neighboring city of Bloomington, it enters the city after forming a clover interchange with Interstate 494. The road is connected to 17th Street, E 70th Street, and E 66th Street, and exits the city after intersecting with State Route Highway 62, and ending at its terminus of Lake Nokomis.

As for the second category of roads, east to west (and vice versa) roads include: 66th Street, 70th Street, 76th Street, and 77th Street.

For north to south (and vice versa) roads, these include: Penn Avenue, Lyndale Avenue, Nicollet Avenue, and Portland Avenue.
